What are you thankful for?
This is a question that we are often asked, especially during the holiday season. Many families partake in the tradition of going around the Thanksgiving dinner table and saying what they are thankful for that year, however, it is important to recognize the things we are grateful for all year, no matter how big or small those things may be.
A sunny day is something to be thankful for. Seeing a friend or someone you know out and about is something to be thankful for. Getting a good night's sleep is something to be thankful for. The little things that we often overlook are sometimes what we should be most thankful for, because they serve as tiny reminders of how special life is. We must find moments to pause and appreciate the small gifts that come with everyday life. Life, itself, is a gift.
Everyday may not be a good day, but it is still a chance that we are given to be our best selves and to be kind to others. Try to be the person that people are grateful for. Be the person that smiles at a stranger, compliments someone, or helps somebody when they need it. We do not need to perform extravagant acts in order to make a positive impact on others, we simply need to practice kindness and gratitude. This Thanksgiving season, make sure to reflect on the little things because they are some of life’s most special treasures.
